I was looking through an old national geographic magazine and came across some photos by Mitch Dobrowner. He captures thunderstorms, tornados and other elements.
Some of the picures reminded me of the spinning top I had created. These photos are dealing with elements which seem out of control, like storms, hurricanes and tornados.
I decided to cut some of these photos out of the magazine and create a piece of art from them. I stuck them on a page using pva glue and let it dry.
I later returned to the piece, I got some water and using my fingers I rubbed the pictures until the top layer began to come off revealing some of the images on the reverse of the magazine pages. The images now look damaged almost like the damage storms are capable of doing.
This is how it turned out.
These are some photos of the Storm collage I made. The pieces of the image I rubbed off makes it look weather beaten which is a great effect and really relates to the images themselves.
I am fascinated by some of the photos by Mitch Debrower so I have decided I am going to take some photos of my own which I will post on my blog soon.
